AI
Success with a series of blockbusters, the publisher affirms that “AI cannot develop games to replace humans.”
AI is increasingly advancing in all fields, but perhaps it is still not the time to replace game developers.
It cannot be denied that in recent years, AI has been increasingly developing and has become one of the most talked-about topics worldwide. The advancements and updates with new features have led to the application of AI in various fields, and the gaming industry is no exception. There have been debates arising when many game designers and artists complain that the AI boom has put them through the most challenging phase of their careers. However, there are also many opinions suggesting that the current time is still not suitable for AI to replace game developers.
It’s worth mentioning that the person who made the aforementioned statement is none other than Strauss Zelnick, the CEO of Take-Two. For those who may not know, Take-Two is the parent company of Rockstar, the renowned publisher behind blockbuster games such as GTA and Red Dead Redemption.
Returning to Strauss, he believes that the development of Artificial Intelligence is exciting many people, and Take-Two is also open to utilizing this new technology to make everything run smoother. However, Take-Two does not consider using AI to create blockbuster games.
In Strauss’s view, the creation of these games requires the touch of genius, a quality exclusive to human beings. No matter how advanced AI becomes, it can never replicate the unique ingenuity possessed by humans. “Genius is an inherent attribute of humanity, and I firmly believe it will forever remain so,” he expressed.
Consequently, the developers at Take-Two can rest assured that their contributions are invaluable and unlikely to be supplanted by AI in the foreseeable future. Without a doubt, the highly anticipated upcoming release from Take-Two, GTA 6, will bear the mark of exceptional craftsmanship and imaginative prowess from the team of talented designers behind it.
Certainly, as AI technology continues to advance, it would be a significant oversight not to leverage its capabilities in various fields. However, Artificial Intelligence still has certain limitations, and undoubtedly, to utilize artificial intelligence to its fullest potential, humans still play a crucial role.
