Galaxy Z Flip5 revealed in real-life images ahead of launch: Massive secondary display”
The leaked template of Galaxy Z Flip5 confirms rumors of a large secondary display to be completely accurate
With just a few weeks left until the next generation of Samsung’s foldable smartphones is unveiled, the company has recently sent out invitations to the Galaxy Unpacked 2023 event, scheduled for July 26th in South Korea. Leaked images of a dummy model of the Galaxy Z Flip5 have also surfaced. A dummy is a simulated device sent to third-party manufacturers to prepare accessories for the upcoming launch.
The leaked images, posted on SlashLeaks, reveal that the dummy version of the Galaxy Z Flip5 features a prominent large secondary front display that resembles a folder icon on a computer interface. Additionally, it sports a horizontal dual-camera setup instead of the current vertical arrangement, while the rest of the design remains largely unchanged, including the fingerprint sensor and hinge.
There is no change in the hinge design, which means the gap between the folds of the Z Flip5’s screen will still not be fully closed, similar to the previous generation. In 2023, the foldable phone market has witnessed several models with a vertical fold without a visible gap, such as the Oppo Find N2 Flip and the vivo X Flip. Many sources suggest that Samsung has developed a new “water-drop” hinge mechanism that could eliminate the gap between the two screens when folded.
Evidence of this can be seen in leaked images of the Z Fold5, showing that when folded, the hinge position leaves only a small gap, much smaller than what we can observe on this Z Flip5 dummy.
Previously, reliable sources indicated that the Galaxy Z Flip5 is expected to feature a 6.7-inch AMOLED Full HD+ main screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 3.4-inch HD secondary screen. It will use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, a 12 MP front-facing camera, and a dual 12 MP rear camera setup with OIS support for the main lens and a super-wide-angle lens.
The Galaxy Z Flip5 is rumored to have a 3,700mAh battery, 25W fast charging, 8GB of RAM, and options for 128GB or 256GB of internal storage. It will run on Android 13, and users will be able to use Google Maps directly from the external secondary display.
