While ChatGPT provides instructions, Greathouse Fall will be the one executing all the advice and guidance from this AI chatbot.

Since its appearance, ChatGPT has been utilized by programmers and content creators to assist them with their work. However, one individual wants to go even further by asking ChatGPT to help them get rich with the smallest possible capital.

In March of the previous year, Jackson Greathouse Fall, a writer and brand designer, shared on Twitter a challenge for ChatGPT to help him get rich: “You have 100 USD, and your goal is to make as much money as possible in the shortest time without doing anything illegal.” Greathouse Fall stated on Twitter that he would be the “human clone” of this AI chatbot and would do “everything” it instructs.

After a series of different prompts, ChatGPT finally guided Greathouse Fall to establish a company named “Green Gadget Guru,” which aimed to provide products and instructions for sustainable living.

Thanks to ChatGPT and other AI tools like Dall-E (an AI text-to-image generation tool), Greathouse Fall stated that he raised $1,378 for his company in just one day, although there was no way to confirm this claim. According to one of Greathouse Fall’s tweets, the company was valued at around $25,000. By the following Monday, he mentioned that the company had generated its first $130 in revenue, though it was difficult to verify this figure.

He also utilized this AI chatbot to create a professional-looking website for his company, featuring sample products such as eco-friendly gadgets and sustainable kitchenware.

As of March 15th, it seems that Greathouse Fall was content with the results his company had achieved. He tweeted, “In short, I’m about to become wealthy.”

While it remains unclear how much money he made from establishing the company with the guidance of ChatGPT, his tweets undoubtedly captured the attention of many. From the first tweet in mid-March to mid-June, his posts garnered over 100,000 likes and more than 20 million impressions on Twitter. He even managed to build his own community on Discord.

Here are the step-by-step instructions that ChatGPT provided to Greathouse Fall to start his business with 100 USD:

Step 1: Purchase a domain and hosting: As suggested by ChatGPT, he should buy a domain for 10 USD and a website hosting package for 5 USD per month.

Step 2: Set up a suitable affiliate website: ChatGPT recommends using the remaining 85 USD in the budget for website design and content. The AI chatbot also suggests focusing on a “profitable and less competitive niche,” listing examples like unique kitchen gadgets or distinctive pet products. Ultimately, he chooses environmentally friendly products.

Additionally, the chatbot advises him to create an affiliate website to promote products and earn commissions from sales. Initially, ChatGPT suggests purchasing the domain EcoFriendlyFinds.com, but it costs 848 USD, so the chatbot proposes a cheaper domain: GreenGadgetsGuru.com, priced at only 8.16 USD, with a hosting fee of 29 USD. As a result, he has 62.84 USD left in the budget.

Step 3: Utilize social media: Once the website is complete, ChatGPT suggests sharing articles and product reviews on social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram, as well as engaging in forums like Reddit to interact with potential customers and increase website traffic.

Using another AI tool from OpenAI called Dall-E 2, Greathouse Fall obtains a rough draft of a logo for his website and then uses other graphic design software to finalize the logo. He spends an additional 40 USD to purchase Facebook and Instagram ads, targeting users interested in sustainable and environmentally-friendly products.

Step 4: “Optimize for search engines” using SEO techniques to drive traffic to the website. In addition to optimizing the articles for search engines, Greathouse Fall decides to make his website public even though there are still many things to be edited and improved.

The ending is not as dreamed.

Result: Despite the advice from ChatGPT and the promising signals in the initial stages, it appears that all the efforts of Greathouse Fall towards the company did not go as planned.

On April 12th, nearly a month after the first posts, Greathouse Fall announced that he would cease the operations of Green Gadget Guru to focus on building his Discord community. Now, the company’s website – which no longer displays any real products and only contains text posts from March – is no longer operational.
